Soccer Rules
Full Field Soccer Game
-
All full field games will play with 8 field players and
a goalkeeper (9v9).
-
Size 5 balls will be used for all games. The home team
is expected to provide the game ball. If the home team cannot provide a suitable
ball, then the facility will provide the game ball.
-
All games will consist of two twenty-five (25) minute halves.
The clock will run continuously only stopping for emergency injuries. Halftime will
be two minutes or more/less based on the time remaining within the hour. All games
will start on time and any team that is not ready to play when the official blows
his/her whistle will be subject to the clock beginning without further warning and
official play will begin. Yourspace Sports will make every effort to keep all games
on schedule.
-
Substitutions are unlimited and can be made at any time.
The outgoing player must be on the bench before the substituting player can step
on the field. Non-compliance with this rule will result in the substituting player
having to sit on the bench for two minutes while his/her team will play one player
short. It is up to the game official to monitor this rule. The game official will
keep track of the two-minute penalty with his/her own watch - not the game clock.
-
Direct and indirect kicks will be used. Should the ball
hit the ceiling, the defending team will be awarded an indirect free kick from the
spot on the field directly below where the ball struck the ceiling/trusses.
-
An indirect free kick will be awarded against a team that
hits the suspended cable at midfield. The free kick will be played directly below
the spot where the ball made contact with the cable.
-
On all free kicks, five (5) seconds will be allowed to
put the ball back into play. Failure to do this results in a loss of possession
and the free kick awarded the opposite way. Opponents must stand three (3) yards
from the ball on all free kicks. Failure to do so will result in the ball being
moved an additional five (5) yards further forward.
-
Slide tackles are
NOT PERMITTED at any time. An indirect free
kick will be awarded against any dangerous play or sliding.
-
OFFSIDES
Enforced
-
A team cannot score directly from a kick-off.
Goalkeeper Restrictions
-
The keeper may punt and/or drop kick and/or throw the ball
without any limitations within the midfield line. Balls passing the midfield line
will be restarted with an indirect kick.
-
The keeper has five seconds to release the ball after taking
possession with his/her hands. Failure to do so results in an indirect free kick.
-
The keeper cannot dribble the ball back into the penalty
area and then pick it up. An indirect free kick will be awarded against the keeper
if this occurs.
Referees Discretion
-
All free kicks awarded by the referees are indisputable.
Encouragement will be given to allow the games to flow. Please allow the referees
to do their job; the players will be encouraged to play the game. Yourspace Sports
has a ZERO TOLERANCE
policy against players, coaches and/or fans complaining or arguing with the officials.
-
The referee will give a yellow card, a two-minute penalty
(served on the team bench) to any player who is considered to be displaying un-sportsmanlike
conduct. This may include violent conduct or contact, bad language, intentional
fouls, deliberate handballs, and any other actions the referee considers to be un-sportsmanlike
or unfair. Yourspace Sports
strives to maintain a safe, family oriented environment.
It is critical to enforce any violations of these policies.
-
A second yellow given to the same player during that game
will result in a red card. The penalized player will be made to sit out for the
rest of that game and the team will play short a player for the remainder of the
game. The ejected player must also leave the field house immediately. The game will
not restart until the ejected player is completely out of the facility. Red-carded
players WILL BE suspended for the next game as well. Continuing offenders during
the season MAY BE stripped from that teams roster and receive up to a one-year suspension.
This is solely at the discretion of the facility manager and attending referee.
There will be no refunds given to any player due to suspension.
-
A yellow card does not need to precede a red. If major
misconduct is apparent, such as attempting to injure another player, the referee
may immediately eject the offender.
Penalty Kicks
-
The goalkeeper must touch the goal line with some part
of their shoes until the ball is kicked. The player taking the kick will not be
permitted to play the ball until the keeper is ready and the referee signals the
kick to be taken. Play is live if the ball is missed, however, the penalty-taker
cannot re-touch the ball unless another player does so first.
League Rules
-
Regular season standings will be based on 3 points for
a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss. The playoff schedule will be
based on regular season results and will be distributed prior to the last regular
season game.
Split Field Modifications
The above rules will be enforced other than the following modifications:
-
Goalie punts are allowed in the U10 games with no restrictions.
-
The goalie box is the larger, blue rectangular box (not
the semi circle).
-
Game play will be 7v7, including the goalkeeper. The Adult
Leagues will play 6v6, including the goalkeeper. In the Adult Coed League, at lease
two (2) females must be on the field at all times (no exceptions).
-
All kicks are indirect other than penalties occurring in
the goal box in which a penalty kick is assessed.
-
U10 level games will use size 4 balls, instead of size
5.
